Southern Aero Services provides the highest level of expertise in aircraft maintenance, repair, and restoration, and are happy to lend our expertise and to any project you may need.
Southern Aero Services is a small airplane maintenance and repair business based out of a small private flying community called Cedar Ridge Airport (GA62). For over thirty-three years, owner Bob Ripley and his team of mechanics have been maintaining upwards of seventy Beech Bobanza, Baron and Travel Air aircraft per year as well as other locally owned aircrafts and special projects.
Bob received his Mechanic, Airframe and Powerplant rating in 1970, and got his start working for Northeast Airlines the next year. After Delta acquired the company in 1972, he moved to Atlanta and has been working in Georgia since. After moving to Atlanta, he began working as Maintenance Director for a local flying club and charter operation, receiving his Mechanics Inspection Authorization in 1975.
In 1985, Bob incorporated Southern Aero Services in Cedar Ridge Airport. The airport has 22 owners, a 3000 foot paved runway and a 3000 foot grass runway.
Bob is also Senior Technical Advisor for the American Bonanza Society and teaching for the ABS Maintenance Academy, which he developed. In each role he travels the country giving courses on aircraft maintenance.
